Slow shopping, a good read.

I am so encouraged that my clients allow time for the making process, I often have to fight my own instinct to rush, as if speed is the most important part of the customer experience, and yet I intend for my jewellery to last a lifetime, and to be treasured for years to come.

I do have a small selection of pieces that are ready to be boxed up, I make these when time permits, between client orders.

But my love lies with making pieces with a client in mind, when they have chosen a word to be engraved, the colour of a precious stone, even the length of a chain. There are many ways to personalise a piece of jewellery. Clients appreciate the time it takes to make a piece, for the hand engraver to do his work and for the assay office to give their stamp of approval (literally). Slow shopping allows time for the making process, from recycled and ethically sourced materials, from suppliers I can visit in just a few hours. And, since I am based in the town of books that is Hay on Wye and I am the former producer of the Hay Festival, I am always happy to recommend a good read to help while away the days until your Norma Kerr jewel arrives.
